Tonight's Early pick 4 at los alamitos seems like a double to me. I have two singles in my pick 4 sequence and then I am going to spread in another leg. Many times we try to beat the favorite no matter what and that ends up costing me the winning ticket because i could of spread in other legs instead of trying to beat the favorite. So tonight's strategy is to single and take a stand on who i like and hope for prices in the other legs.
Remember, today's first post at Los Alamitos is 5pm. Let's get to it:
Race 1: I am gonna start off by singling #8 Jmj Chick which is the 6/5 morning line favorite. This filly has been consistent in all her races and has improved her numbers in each and every start. Has lost 3 close photos in each of her last 3 starts and now takes a class drop and cutting her claiming price in half. Since a low profile but very capable jockey is named to ride, lets hope for higher off odds at post time.
Race 2: I love #8 Fast Tracking here in this spot. Trainer Charles Treece goes 1st off the claim and drops this gelding from 5k to 2.5k level. In addition, Hot-Riding Eulices Gomez gets the call back aboard this newly turned 4yo son of Iron Cat. Should improve only making his 3rd lifetime start and gets a good outside post. Single.
Race 3: Since i singled back to back in races 1 & 2, i am going to spread in this bottom level claimer at 300 yards that looks wide open. ALL.
Race 4: To close out the pk4 we a have a maiden special at 300 yards. Some good looking horses in this race with lots of potential improvement. I will be going two deep. Top choice will be #3 El Baia coming second off the layoff where he was the favorite last time out but got pinballed at the break and showed run past the wire. Also using #8 Fountainebleau for Champion Trainer Paul Jones. This gelding comes off a long layoff since april but shows some solid works recently and in his debut he was bet down to favoritism. Also adding lasix for the first time and gets a good outside post.
Good Economic Ticket ($16): 8/8/all/3,8
